TABANAN, BALI INSIGHT NEWS– In a distressing development, EAN (25), a homemaker, has reported her husband, YN, to the Tabanan Police Station for alleged domestic violence. The incident reportedly transpired over several months, culminating in serious physical abuse that left EAN with bruises on her back. According to Police Report No. TBL/34.a/VI/2025/SPKT, the violent episodes included dragging, kicking, and hitting, with the latest assaults occurring on June 6 and June 8, 2025.Advocate Rikhardus Ikun, S.H., M.H., who serves as both the head of the Legal Aid Institution LBH 351 and the James Richard and Partners Law Firm, expressed his grave concerns. He stated, “We urge the police to process this case swiftly and secure the perpetrator to ensure our client’s safety.” In the wake of escalating threats from the suspect, Rikhardus and his team relocated EAN to a safer environment following a series of abusive incidents since their marriage in 2021. “The actions of the accused are inhumane; it is shocking that he, as her husband, would inflict harm rather than provide protection,” he remarked. The situation escalated following EAN discovering her husband engaged in a video call with a woman presumed to be his mistress while being an online gambler. “This revelation was the tipping point for the domestic violence experienced by our client,” Rikhardus added. Totok Walyuno S.H., the Chairperson of Peradi Utama DPW Bali, also weighed in, commending the advocacy efforts for EAN and highlighting their mission to ensure justice prevails in cases like this, as well as other legal issues requiring urgent attention.
